Jude Bellingham’s return to the England setup was expected to be smooth, but the midfielder’s visible frustration has created an unexpected talking point around his place in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.
During England’s 2–0 win over Albania, the Real Madrid star was withdrawn in the 84th minute after what many would describe as a mixed evening, and his reaction quickly overshadowed the performance itself.
As soon as Bellingham noticed his number on the board, he reacted with clear irritation.
The timing could not have been worse for him, especially when he is trying to reclaim an automatic place in England’s starting XI after a period of uneven form and injury-related absence.
Other players have stepped up in his time away, and Tuchel has already hinted that the structure of his team may not accommodate all the big names at once.
When Bellingham left the pitch, he waved his arms in frustration, a gesture reminiscent of team-mate Vinicius Jr. at Real Madrid during his substitution against Barcelona.

Asked about the behaviour, Tuchel responded firmly. “That is a decision and he has to accept the decision.
“His friend is waiting on the sidelines. Accept it, respect it and keep on going,” said the England boss as quoted by Sky Sports.
Pressed further on whether the incident clashed with the values he is trying to build ahead of the FIFA World Cup, Tuchel appeared calm but decisive. “I didn’t see it that way.
“I will have to review it, and I saw that he wasn’t happy. I don’t want to make a bigger deal out of it than it is right now.
“Players like Jude are very competitive. They will never like it. My word stands.
“It is about standards and a certain level. It’s a commitment and mutual respect. We won’t change our decision just because someone waves their arms,” he concluded.
