Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League was confirmed by West Ham’s draw with Crystal Palace, after which Nuno Espirito Santo offered a measured response.
It was the former Wolves manager whose West Ham side were involved in the result that ended their hopes of survival. “Of course, of course, of course (it’s something that upsets me). I feel for them. I wish them all the best. They are a giant club and for sure they are going to go back to good days.” He was speaking to Sky Sports.
It ends an eight-season stay in the top flight.
Many supporters feel the club has been mismanaged by Fosun for several years, and a risky transfer approach left little margin for error.
Wolves failed in that window, leaving a squad that was not fit for purpose.
Fans will hope Nuno’s belief proves accurate, though with Fosun still in charge some remain sceptical.
