Nuri Sahin is eager to ensure that Borussia Dortmund do a better job of controlling matches and dominating the flow of proceedings as he looks to stamp his authority on the team.
After a tough start to life as Borussia Dortmund head coach, Nuri Sahin will hope to turn the tide in the coming games and lead the team's charge up the Bundesliga standings. The BVB head coach wants his players to do a better job of dictating the pace of games, especially when they play away from home.
During his press conference ahead of Saturday's home game against SC Freiburg, Sahin said, "We want to dictate the pace of games, control proceedings, and create more chances, especially away from home. It's good that we have possession of the ball. Now it's about getting the pace going and creating chances. We want to up the tempo. We don't just want to define ourselves by periods of possession, possession in the opponent's half is much more important."
Borussia Dortmund have failed to win any of their Bundesliga matches away from home this season, and have lost their last six games away from the Westfalenstadion. At home, the Black and Yellows have won all of their matches so far. And they will be aiming to keep that run going this weekend when they face SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga.
With games against the likes of Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona coming up, Nuri Sahin will certainly be keen to see improvements in the overall play of his side. And those games will also give us a better account of where Borussia Dortmund stand after yet another summer of overhaul.
