Oakland Roots Reveal 2026 Kit | OneFootball

This morning the Oakland Roots of the USL Championship revealed their 2026 home and away kits in a press release.

The Roots, a purpose-driven soccer club founded in 2018, will be playing their 5th season in the USL Championship. Their first match is away to local rival Monterey Bay on March 7th. The following Saturday they return home to the Oakland Coliseum for their home opener against New Mexico United.

Last season, the Roots exceeded 26,000 fans for their home opener against San Antonio FC, the highest attendance of any USL club in the 2025 season.

Since their founding, the Roots have been known for their creative and vibrant design, both in their kits and fan merchandise. They work closely with local artists and institutions, and take inspiration from the culturally diverse mosaic of residents who call Oakland home.

General Kit Details

The Roots’ kit manufacturer is Mexican company CHARLY. Front-of-jersey sponsor is Anthem Blue Cross, the club’s preferred partner. Other sponsors include:– ThredUp (positioned on the back above player name and number)– Ava Community Energy (on the sleeve)– Penumbra (on the lower back. This is a new partner this season)

The Home Kit

This year’s design was inspired by Oakland’s iconic Lake Merritt, and the local legend of a creature called the “Oak-ness Monster.” Featuring a subtle dragon-eel pattern that mirrors the ripples of wind over water, the inner collar features the inscription “Born of the Town” and the lake’s coordinates.

The Away Kit

As night is to day, the home is to away. Bright and channeling the energy of morning vibes, the away kit incorporates Oakland Roots’ iconic mosaic pattern in three columns up front. The pattern continues over the shoulder and along the lower fringe.
