Massimo Oddo gained his first point as the head coach of AC Milan Futuro this weekend, and following the game, he spoke about the result and its importance.

The Futuro project has heavy backing from Milan, but the reality is quite bleak so far – threat of relegation to Serie D is ever present, and there is a real chance that the side falls if they are not careful.

Nevertheless, this is why Oddo was brought in, a chance to save things before desperation got out of hand, and picking up his first point at the weekend is certainly a step in the right direction.

After the 0-0 draw against Perugia, he stated that his team showed the right signs to do well, which bodes well moving forwards, and his comments to Milan TV have been relayed by Milan News.

On the match…

“We did a very good performance, especially in the first half in the phase of possession and dribbling where we were good. We did very well in my opinion. In the second half, a little less but we did very well because we managed to be compact and united, even in difficult moments.

“What I’d like to see a bit more is nastiness and determination in front of goal: today we had a few chances and we could have taken advantage of them a bit better.

On the impact with the team…

“I see a group that wants to become more of a team, this is the most important aspect, especially in this category: you can have all the qualities you want but if you don’t have the determination to want to achieve a result at all costs, to not want to take goals or to do it, it becomes difficult.

“You have to settle into the category and you have to do it quickly. For the rest, we have to work a lot, we are doing it: we have to grow in terms of personality and in terms of wanting to play football, to be better in front of goal to create more chances to score goals.

There is a long road to go for safety to be achieved, but it is definitely possible with the new head coach.
