Manchester United have confirmed that goalkeeper Andre Onana has completed a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.

As the summer transfer window entered its final weeks, speculation over Onana’s future grew, fuelled by his disastrous display in the humiliating EFL Cup loss to Grimsby Town.

United’s signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day was further proof that Onana’s future was no longer at Old Trafford.

With most European windows closed, Onana’s options narrowed considerably, leaving Saudi Arabia and Turkey as his most likely destinations. Trabzonspor tabled a loan bid for the Cameroonian, which United accepted.

Trabzonspor proceeded to make a proposal to Onana, which he accepted. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that at Trabzonspor, the 29-year-old is set to pocket nearly twice what he earns at United – a factor that may have helped sway his decision.

Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano published an image of Onana jetting to Turkey to seal the transfer and now, both United and Trabzonspor have confirmed the deal.

United have released a statement which reads, “Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance and registration.”

“The move has been completed ahead of the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday. We would like to wish Andre good luck.”

Journalist Ben Jacobs has also posted an image of Onana posing with a Trabzonspor shirt while inside a plane.

The United number 24 seemingly doesn’t look too pleased in the image.

There have been claims that earlier in the summer, he rejected interest from AS Monaco after being assured by United that they weren’t looking to sign a new goalkeeper.

Had he entertained Monaco’s advances, perhaps Onana would be playing Champions League football this season.
