Axel Disasi’s (26) loan move from Chelsea to Aston Villa was completed in the early hours of the morning. It is a straight loan for the Frenchman, who will return to his parent club at the end of the campaign.
Disasi had been hopeful of leaving Chelsea before the end of the transfer window. The centre-back has been a captain for the club during their UEFA Europa Conference League campaign but has struggled for minutes outside of this competition, and has made only six appearances in the Premier League. The France international arrived in Chelsea from AS Monaco during the 2023 summer transfer window for a €45 million fee.
The former Monaco and Stade de Reims defender had been the subject of a tug-of-war with Tottenham Hotspur also looking to acquire his services. Chelsea preferred to send him to their London rivals, who, unlike Villa, are not in the running for the UEFA Champions League places.
However, Disasi had his eyes set on a move to Aston Villa and it was sanctioned at the last minute. It is a straight loan with Aston Villa paying Chelsea a €6m loan fee.
