Barceona star Joan García has this week been afforded a well-earned reward for his stellar form in Catalunya’s capital.
This comes in the form of a maiden call-up to the Spanish senior national team squad.
Calls have long been widespread amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion for Joan’s talents to be recognised by Spain boss Luis de la Fuente.
The 24-year-old was in the eyes of most the standout goalkeeper in La Liga whilst on the books of Espanyol last season, since carrying his spectacular shot-stopping exploits across the Catalan divide to the Camp Nou.
The aforementioned Luis de la Fuente had until now remained unwavering in his selection of three alternative options between the posts, however, namely David Raya, Unai Simón, and Álex Remiro.
But as alluded to above, this week, Joan’s excellence has finally proven too much to overlook.
Ahead of an upcoming pair of friendly fixtures against Serbia and Egypt, the Barca man has been called up by Spain for the first time ever.
