Zeki Celik, surprisingly, is not renewing his contract with Roma but is moving to Juventus.
The Giallorossi club, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, had booked the Turkish full-back’s return flight to Fiumicino, and he was supposed to sign the new deal tomorrow in Trigoria before resuming training on Saturday.
The former Lille player, meanwhile, is preparing to become a new Juventus player. Celik took it upon himself to bid farewell to Roma fans with a post on his Instagram profile.
Zeki Celik bid farewell to Roma fans on Instagram: “Dear Romanisti, Today, as I bid farewell to this great family, I feel emotions that are difficult to describe. Wearing the Roma shirt, fighting for these colors, and stepping onto the pitch in front of you has been an immense honor and a source of great pride for me. Every day spent at this club has helped me grow, both as a player and as a person. We have experienced unforgettable moments together. I will always carry with me the pride of having helped bring Roma back to the UEFA Champions League.”
The former Roma full-back thanked the club and the coaches with whom he shared his experience in the capital: “I would like to sincerely thank all my teammates, all the people who work for this club every day, the sporting directors, and all the coaches and technical staff I’ve had the privilege of working with. Each of you will always have a special place in my career and in my life. A special thank you goes to José Mourinho, who gave me the opportunity to wear this shirt.”
“I would also like to thank Daniele De Rossi, Ivan Jurić, and Claudio Ranieri for everything they have taught me, for the trust they have placed in me, and for their support. Finally, I want to extend a special thank you to Gian Piero Gasperini. Even though we worked together for a short time, the trust, sincerity, and respect he showed me meant so much to me. I will always be grateful.”
The 1997-born player is ready to begin his new adventure with Juventus: “Now the time has come to begin a new chapter in my career. But I will always hold this club, this city, and all of you in my heart. I wish Roma continued success. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything. Zeki Çelik.”
