Morocco crushed Niger with a resounding 5-0 victory this Friday, September 5, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat. This emphatic win on matchday seven of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers makes the Atlas Lions the first African team mathematically qualified for the World Cup to be held jointly in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Walid Regragui's men delivered a flawless attacking performance against a Nigerien side completely overwhelmed by the occasion. In the 29th minute, Ismael Saibari broke the deadlock with a pinpoint strike that found the back of the net. The attacking midfielder didn’t stop there, doubling the lead in the 38th minute and giving his side a comfortable advantage heading into halftime.

After the break, the Atlas Lions kept up their relentless pace. Star striker Ayoub El Kaabi netted the third goal in the 51st minute, shattering any remaining hopes for Niger. The attacking showcase continued as Hamza Igamane found the net in the 69th minute.

In the 84th minute, Azzedine Ounahi put the finishing touch on this collective masterclass, adding the fifth and final goal to seal a one-sided contest. Despite their best efforts, Niger never managed to trouble Yassine Bono in the Moroccan goal.

This comprehensive victory allows Morocco to strengthen their grip on top spot in Group E with 18 points from 7 matches. Walid Regragui’s squad sits well ahead of Tanzania (10 points), with Zambia and Niger trailing behind (6 points each). With the gap now unbridgeable, Morocco officially becomes the first African nation to book their ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
