La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Monday announced a fresh pair of injury setbacks in the club’s first-team squad.
This comes amid confirmation that both Vinícius Jr. and Lucas Vázquez are set for incoming spells on the treatment table.
Real Madrid are of course fresh off another outing to forget on Sunday evening.
After making the trip to Catalunya for a La Liga showdown with arch rivals Barcelona, Los Blancos surrendered a two-goal lead, to ultimately slip to a 4-3 defeat.
Carlo Ancelotti’s troops, as a result, have bid a final farewell to their chances of retaining the club’s league title.
And yet, as alluded to above, Real Madrid’s woes on Sunday were not condemned solely to the eventual outcome.
In addition, amid an ongoing injury crisis in the ranks of the capital heavyweights, the aforementioned Vinícius Jr. and Lucas Vázquez suffered fitness blows.
As per a pair of releases across Real’s website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests carried out today on Vinicius Jr. by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his left ankle. His recovery will be monitored.’
‘Following tests carried out today on Lucas Vázquez by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the pectineus muscle in his left thigh. His recovery will be monitored.’
It is as of yet unclear how long the two Blancos stars are set to be sidelined.
