Official: Real Madrid confirm ACL injury to Rodrygo; could be out for nearly a year | OneFootball

The worst fears regarding Rodrygo Goes’ injury have been confirmed, with Real Madrid issuing an official statement to announce that the forward had sustained an ACL rupture along with damage to the meniscus in his right knee.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Rodrygo by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a rupture of the lateral meniscus of his right leg,” the club statement read.

This comes as a huge blow for Rodrygo and Real Madrid, with the forward’s season now officially over, while he will not be able to play for Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup either.

Earlier reports suggested that the 25-year-old forward could be out for a period of six to seven months.

But, now, following the confirmation of the rupture of ACL and the meniscus, Real Madrid believe that Rodrygo could be sidelined for nearly a whole year, according to journalist Abraham P Romero of El Mundo.

The injury is a very serious one – club captain Dani Carvajal went through it last year. Having suffered the ACL rupture with meniscus damage back in October 2024, he was only able to return to action in July 2025 – nine months out.

As such, the belief is that Rodrygo, too, could be staring at a similar or slightly longer time out, depending on how his recovery progresses.
