Carlo Ancelotti has announced Brazil’s 26-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, and the final list has brought both positive and painful news for Real Madrid.
As expected, Vinicius Jr. has secured his place in the squad and is expected to play a central role for Brazil heading into the tournament.
The winger remains one of the biggest attacking stars in world football and will once again carry huge expectations on the international stage.
Another major talking point from the squad announcement is the inclusion of Endrick.
The young striker, currently on loan from Real Madrid, managed to revive his momentum during an impressive spell at Olympique Lyonnais, and his performances have now earned him a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
Shortly after the announcement, Lyon celebrated the striker’s achievement publicly through their official social media channels.
“Your goal has been achieved, ‘garoto’! Endrick has been called up to the Brazilian National Team for the 2026 World Cup. Good luck, Endrick,” wrote Lyon on their official social media channel.
While Endrick’s inclusion brought excitement, the situation surrounding Eder Militao has created major concern.
Militao was expected to play a very important role for Brazil, although after undergoing surgery, his return is not expected at least until October, making his absence one of the biggest setbacks for Ancelotti.
There was also disappointment regarding Rodrygo, whose World Cup hopes had already ended months ago.
The forward suffered a torn ACL and meniscus earlier in the year, an injury that is now expected to sideline him for most, if not all, of 2026.
As reported before, the injury that Rodrygo suffered during the 0-1 loss to Getafe has been quite severe, and if the rumours are to be true, he may not return to action until early 2027.
