VfL Bochum have signed Bayern Munich talent Moritz Göttlicher to a long-term contract, the Ruhrpott club have confirmed.
This is the 17-year-old's first move outside his native Bavaria; the midfielder having represented Bayern for around ten years.
Since summer 2016, Göttlicher has been part of the FC Bayern Campus, having moved from FC Gerolfing to the Bavarian capital aged eight.
Over the past two years, he has has flourished, reaching the semi-finals of the German Championship with Bayern's U-17 team last season.
As a first-year player in this year's Munich U19 squad, he has already amassed five goals and two assists in his first eleven competitive matches across all youth competitions.
Göttlicher participated in the EUROs with the German U-17 national team last summer, but missed the U17 World Cup due to injury.
“When I heard about VfL Bochum’s interest, I was very pleased because I knew that young players get playing time here in Bochum.
“I believe this is the right step to make it in professional football, and it’s great that it worked out so quickly. I’m very happy to be here," said Göttlicher.
He will sign a long-term professional player contract with VfL upon reaching the right age in April, which will then be valid from July 1, 2026.
