Fresh off their dramatic win to reach the Europa League semi-finals last Thrusday, Manchester United came crashing back to reality in the Premier League.
A 1-0 defeat to Wolves on Sunday has now sealed their worst-ever top-flight season since the league became the Premier League in 1992/93.
United have now lost 15 of their 33 league games – a grim record in the modern era – under Ruben Amorim’s management.
Last season wasn’t great either, with 14 losses, but this year’s slump hits a new low. In fact, you’d have to go all the way back to 1989/90 to find a worse campaign.
That season, under Sir Alex Ferguson, United were beaten 16 times and finished 13th – although lifting the FA Cup that year did soften the blow a bit.
