Real Madrid have halted their push for Olise this summer after Bayern insisted there would be no negotiation. The route is closed for now and the Spanish club have turned to alternatives.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said on Saturday that the matter did not concern them, that they are waiting for Michael Olise to return from holiday and that he will play a key role this season.
Earlier in the window, Florentino Pérez denied interest on the day he announced with Iker Jiménez that he would make the biggest bid for a player, set at 150 million. A decoy move with Julián Álvarez was communicated, and Madrid also denied having any direct or indirect contact with Olise or his camp.
The clubs have long highlighted a good relationship, so Bayern’s not-for-sale stance was respected. Olise is contracted until 2029, and Madrid’s pursuit could further strengthen his status as a central figure in a Bayern side that eliminated them from last season’s Champions League.
With Olise deemed unattainable, Diomandé has emerged as the big-money alternative, with Rodri also under consideration. The price was neither an obstacle nor a solution, unlike with RB Leipzig, a club that traditionally sells. Madrid now focus on options who can join immediately.
