Nottingham Forest have appointed Oliver Glasner as head coach. The club said in a statement that he has taken charge.
Appointed by Crystal Palace in February 2024, the Austrian won the FA Cup in May last year, then the Community Shield and Conference League. He confirmed his departure in January and left when his contract expired.
Glasner said talks with owner Evangelos Marinakis and the hierarchy showed a clear vision and strong trust. He highlighted the squad’s potential and his excitement about building for the long term.
Marinakis said Forest aim to win and challenge for major honours, and to make supporters proud. He called Glasner a winner whose leadership and style have brought success, and said he is the right man for the next chapter.
Glasner is Forest’s fifth permanent boss in a year. Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked inside a month, Ange Postecoglou lasted eight winless games, then Sean Dyche four months before Vitor Pereira arrived on an 18-month deal.
Pereira kept Forest up, lost only one of the last 10 Premier League games and reached the Europa League semi-finals, then confirmed on July 1 that he was leaving. He said the call surprised him, he respected it, and he was disappointed but proud.
Forest visit Notts County on July 18 in Glasner’s first friendly. The decision to replace Pereira was ruthless, aimed at raising standards. Glasner’s record includes the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt and last season’s Conference League with Palace, and Forest will again target Europe.
