Olympique de Marseille have agreed a new deal with the City of Marseille to continue operating the Vélodrome. The 15-year convention runs to 2041 and enables projects to modernise the stadium, improve public reception, strengthen security and optimise its spaces.

At a press conference, president Pablo Longoria called it good news for everyone and said it provides a clearer horizon for the works and investment required. He acknowledged there has been little progress in the spectator experience since 2014, and he wants to improve catering and stadium access.

The convention pursues a dual objective, securing contractual relations and ensuring sound economic management of the facility, while responding to observations from the Chambre Régionale des comptes.

No financial figure has been disclosed. The Direction nationale d'interventions domaniales has been asked to re-evaluate the venue’s rental value.

The venue is described as central to life in Marseille.
