Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has on Thursday moved to reveal his admiration for an up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at Barcelona.
The player in question? Lamine Yamal.
Wide-man Lamine, for his part, has of course long been making a name for himself as world football’s next ‘big thing’.
Still just 17, the Spaniard played a leading role in his country’s triumph at this summer’s European Championships, and is already an undisputed starter on the right wing at Barcelona.
The early weeks of the new season have only seen Lamine’s star continue to ascend, too, with the explosive attacker having racked up seven direct goal contributions across just five La Liga appearances.
Since rewarded for his endeavours by way of a place on the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, it is in turn safe to say that the Barcelona academy product has the world at his feet at present.
And one individual who certainly appears to share the viewpoint that Lamine possesses all of the required traits to make it to the very top of the game comes in the form of the aforementioned Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking on Thursday, Real Madrid icon and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo was asked for his take on Lamine’s talents.
And the Portuguese did not hesitate in lavishing praise on the youngster, in responding:
“I see a lot of talent in Lamine Yamal. I hope he does not have any problem in the future and I think he will be one of the best in this generation, for sure.”
