Celtic boss Martin O'Neill says he has not been told of any Nottingham Forest bid for Arne Engels, following claims a formal offer had been lodged.
"I haven't heard that. I would have heard that by now," he told The Scottish Sun. "It's not to say that there might be something but I don't know anything."
Forest have tracked the 22-year-old since three unsuccessful approaches in the winter window, and there were suggestions a deal could be done as early as this week.
O'Neill has already said Engels could move this summer. "I would imagine so, yeah. At this minute I don't think anything has happened." "All those bids Nottingham Forest made came in on the 11th hour so that was just a non-goer for us at that particular stage." "Then he got injured just after that."
Forest need midfield reinforcements after selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City. They have considered Lucas Bergvall and Inter Milan's Davide Frattesi, are yet to add to the squad, and have until 11pm on September 1. New head coach Oliver Glasner is seeking only a handful of signings.
