What do you predict with the final 2024/25 Premier League table?

Just a week of the season still left to go.

In seven days time Newcastle United will conclude their season with a home game against Everton on Sunday 25 May with a 4pm kick-off.

An intense period of games during May for the five teams competing to get those final three Champions League spots.

Friday night seeing disappointing but predictable outcomes. A feeble Spurs rolling over and losing 2-0 at Villa. Man U looked a little better but no wonder against a Chelsea side carrying minimal threat, indeed, very few chances at either end but Cucurella getting the winner with less than 20 minutes to go.

Sunday afternoon seeing Forest go 2-0 up away at West Ham but when Bowen one back on 86 minutes and at least 11 minutes added time announced, Forest left clinging on but held out for the 2-1 win.

Then of course Newcastle, by far the better and most dangerous team in the first half and had at least four good chances in the opening 15 minutes. Raya man of the match says it all and Declan Rice the only goal with a very good 55th minute finish from outside the box.

So this is how the Premier League table now currently looks on the morning of Sunday night (18 May 2025) after this weekend’s results:

As you can see, Arsenal on 71 points now and guaranteed top five, along with Liverpool.

However, then just one point covers the next five clubs, separating Newcastle United in third down to Forest in seventh.

Man City though have a game in hand, Bournemouth at home on Tuesday.

When it comes to predicting what that final Premier League table will look like after the 38th round of fixtures in May 2025, Opta have done some updated analysis after this weekend’s results.

Using their latest data simulations, Opta analysis has shown this as the most likely 2024/25 Premier League table come the end of the season – Predicted final table as of tonight (Sunday 18 May 2025):

As you can see, Arsenal predicted to get 73 points and second place in the final Premier League table.

Then it couldn’t be much closer, with Opta forecasting only one points to cover the next four places in the final table, with seventh just one more point below that.

Opta now predicting both Manchester City and Newcastle United to end up on 68 points, but Man City seen as marginally more likely to do so than NUFC. Plus Man City have currently got a two goal advantage on Newcastle when it comes to GD.

Both Villa and Chelsea now predicted to end up on 67 points but Villa marginally seen as more likely to finish on that number of points. However, the reality is, that if those two ended up both finishing on the same number of points, Chelsea have a much better goal difference and would therefore end up fifth, above Villa in the final Premier League table, who would be sixth.

As for Forest, despite today’s win over West Ham their Champions League hopes are still seen to be slim, predicted to end up seventh on 66 points.

The equation for Eddie Howe’s is simple, win against Everton and guaranteed Champions League. Still possible of course for United to get top five even if they draw on Sunday, or even lose…but here’s hoping we simply do the business against the scouse mackems.
