According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, data specialists Opta’s updated predicted final Premier League table features a big Leeds United change, despite Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Manchester City leaving them six points clear of the drop.
Leeds went into the evening kick-off having lost only two of their past 14 league matches and carved out several good chances to lead. None were taken, and Antoine Semenyo struck in first-half stoppage time as City won 1-0.
City squandered other opportunities but Daniel Farke’s side delivered another strong display, and the buffer to the relegation zone remained intact.
Elsewhere, third-bottom West Ham were beaten 5-2 at Liverpool in the 3pm kick-off. Second-bottom Burnley rallied from 3-0 down to 3-3 at home to Brentford before suffering a heart-breaking reverse, while Sunderland drew 1-1 at Bournemouth.
With Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Brighton all in action on Sunday, Opta’s latest model projects Arsenal to finish first on 82 points. City second on 77, up from 76, Villa third on 67, down from 70, Liverpool fourth on 65, up from 64, Manchester United fifth on 64, up from 62, and Chelsea sixth on 61.
