Ordine questions ‘method’ of Conceicao: “What does he think he can achieve?” | OneFootball

Franco Ordine has become the latest media figure to question some of Sergio Conceicao’s recent choices as the head coach of AC Milan.

It hasn’t been the best recent period for Milan, who sit ninth in the table and out of Europe having been eliminated by Feyenoord. Now, a rescue mission is needed to avoid a vertical collapse and to try and get a spot in the Europa League.

Conceicao inherited a difficult situation and won a trophy after just two games. Yet, since then his path has been a more turbulent one across his 63 days in charge, including clashes with players and mixed results.

La Repubblica reported this morning that the former Porto boss held a three-hour long meeting at Milanello with the squad in the presence of directors to stress the importance of unity and finishing the season well.

Ordine published his column for MilanNews and – in addition to speaking about refereeing decisions plus the youth sector – he spoke about Conceicao’s approach in part of it.

“The coach also needs to change his tune. Last Saturday he announced: my real coaching period will begin on Monday, after Lazio, because I will have the opportunity to work a full week. Good: his first week begins and there are echoes of revolutions, people to lose weight, starters to put on the bench.

“But what kind of method is this? But what does he think he can achieve with this? He can only multiply angst, agitation, impatience, anger. And instead this Milan – as demonstrated by the frightened reaction to the protests of the Curva – only needs serenity.

“PS: Question to ask the medical staff: how is it possible that Florenzi, who had a serious injury in the summer, returns ready to the group before or even at the same time as Loftus Cheek who disappeared from the radar?

“But what did the Englishman have? A relapse, okay. And it takes him so long? Convincing answers are needed.”
