Orel Mangala was forced off shortly after the half-hour with a thigh injury against Auxerre on Saturday, halting his recent momentum with OL. Le Progres notes he had been stringing together starts and strong displays.
He briefly returned in late November after recovering from a cruciate ligament rupture, then featured again in January before another thigh setback. His season truly began on 15 March with a first start against Le Havre.
After a solid half against Lorient, he produced a standout defensive display at the Parc des Princes in a holding role. He began in similar fashion on Saturday, tidy in his distribution and positioning during the opening 30 minutes.
He then went to ground and had to make way, with Tanner Tessmann playing an hour.
Paulo Fonseca said he did not yet know how severe the injury was, adding the midfielder had hurt his hamstring. Mangala is aiming for a place at the World Cup with Belgium.
