Corinthians president Osmar Stabile is preparing to file an ethics complaint against Romeu Tuma Júnior after a fractious Deliberative Council meeting on Monday. He accuses the council chief of threats, coercion and intimidation.
According to Meu Timao, Stabile’s allies are drafting a representation to Leonardo Pantaleão, the council vice-president and head of the Ethics and Discipline Commission. The statute does not set a specific penalty for intimidation by the council president, but disciplinary mechanisms apply.
Article 25 permits written warnings, suspension or expulsion for breaches of rules or decisions. The commission investigates, gathers evidence and hears parties, then the council may judge and sanction. Article 27, clause D, punishes condemnable or aggressive behaviour or damage to club property, which could support any case.
Before the statute vote, Stabile took the floor saying he had felt threatened and coerced by Tuma and alleging interference in his work. He described a dinner exchange in which Tuma allegedly demanded compliance or severe consequences, adding he has witnesses and documents.
At Stabile’s request, legal affairs director Pedro Luis Soares backed the account, saying it occurred during an informal dinner at Parque São Jorge. Tuma then accused the board of rehiring security guard Aldair Borges, cited in Civil Police testimony about a January 2025 invasion, as reported by Uol, and said he would go to the press if no action followed.
The row triggered a brief tumult that paused proceedings for about 10 minutes. With members still standing, the council presidency invoked Article 45 to send the draft straight to a General Assembly. After the meeting, Tuma said Stabile lied and that he awaits the complaint to present his defence.
