Darlington Osuchukwu, 16, has completed his move to Athletic from Manchester United, confirming the switch on Tuesday via his social media.

The goalkeeper has signed a three-year contract, according to AS. His agency, Majestyk Sports Management, also shared images with his family at San Mamés.

His post expressed deep pride at starting a new chapter at a club with a rich tradition, and gratitude to his family for their support throughout the journey.

Osuchukwu has represented Spain and England at under-17 level and came through Gazte Berriak in Navarra. Born in 2009 in Murcia, he moved to Navarra at five and began at Ansoain near Pamplona.

His family relocated to London in 2021, with Osasuna attempting to recruit him before the move. He then joined Manchester United’s academy.

He bade farewell to United a fortnight ago, thanking the club for four unforgettable years, and now links up at Lezama, in line with Athletic’s focus on developing young talent. Players have reacted to his arrival, with Iñaki Williams liking his post and winger Elijah Gift welcoming him, a pathway that echoes Gift’s own switch from Liverpool for €1.2 million in May 2023.
