Oliver Glasner says Crystal Palace’s role in the Premier League title race will be less than that of VAR.

Palace could play a defining role over who comes out on top between Arsenal and Manchester City, facing both clubs before the end of the season.

Up first is a clash with City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, with Palace facing Arsenal on the last day of the season, just three days before their Conference League final against Raya Vallecano.

Asked about the possibility of Glasner’s squad rotation on the title race, he replied: “When you watch our games, like against Fiorentina. with these amount of games, playing every third day, we always rotated.

“Between the Fiorentina games I think it was West Ham, Newcastle, then it was at Bournemouth. We also planned our substitutions at 45 minutes.

“It’s just necessary in such a long season. I saw the players today and what really impressed me massively is in the last league round, against Everton, in every physical data in the Premier League we were top three in this round. Just playing three days after Shakhtar with more or less the same team.

“It just shows what an incredibly well shape the players are in physically.

“After your question I had a look at my payslip to see if we get some money from Arsenal or City. I couldn’t find it.

“I’m responsible for Crystal Palace, not for Arsenal and for City. I just got the confirmation.

“This is what we always do. We always think what is best for us. I think this is my and our responsibility, and I think our influence on the title race will definitely be less than VAR.”

Glasner also shut down any suggestions that his Palace players will lose focus on the Premier League in favour of their European final.

“It’s not possible now to switch off for two weeks and then switch on two days before the final. It’s just not possible,” he said.
