“Over the moon”: Elliot Anderson joins Manchester City in £116m move to the “Kings of Manchester” | OneFootball

Elliot Anderson has said he is over the moon to have signed for the Kings of Manchester after completing his move to Manchester City.

Anderson has signed for Manchester City from Nottingham Forest in a £116m club record deal, with the midfielder signing a long-term contract at the Etihad.

Anderson was part of the England team that finished third at the 2026 World Cup this summer, a campaign that followed an impressivePremier League season. He ranked second in the Premier League for duels won among central midfielders, and third for forward passes and accurate crosses.

The 23-year-old was unveiled as a City player on Thursday evening and said he's delighted to have signed for a side with a relentless drive for trophies.

“I’m over the moon. I can’t wait to play for this Club. I’m really looking forward to it,”Anderson said.

“I think they’re winners, they’re relentless, and that’s the sort of team I want to be a part of - champions and people who win trophies.

“Over the last 10, 12 years, they’ve dominated, so that’s why I wanted to join.

“It’s happened quite quick [his career progression], but I think I always believed that I could get to this point.

“This is where I want to be. Now that I’m here, I’ll keep pushing and try to take this Club forward.”

Anderson has rival interest from Manchester United, who had been keen on a deal for the England international. However, he said he has joined the dominant side of the Mancunian rivalry.

“Yeah, it’s one of the biggest derbies in the world and for as long as I’ve known Manchester [football], City have been the Kings of Manchester,” he added.

“It’ll be a great fixture, and I can’t wait to be involved in something like that.”
