Joao Palhinha says he hopes Dominic Solanke wins the Puskas award for his stunning goal against Manchester City.
After firing his side back into the game to halve the deficit, Solanke drew his side level with a superb flick to beat Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Man City goal.
The striker has now scored four goals in his last four games and Palhinha says he is delighted for the striker following more than five months out with an ankle injury.
“We saw the clips from the goal, and it was an amazing goal, and I hope he wins the Puskas for the next season,” Palhinha said.
Palhinha admitted it was “too easy” for Spurs to find themselves two goals down but praised the resilience of his side to fight back.
“The two goals that we conceded was, in my opinion, too easy again, you know, but apart from that, what we need to take from this game is the reaction in the second half, and we tried to win the game until the last minute, so I think it was a tough game with the top team,” he said.
“I think the reaction, sometimes it’s the hardest thing in football, you have this reaction, especially against a top team, and especially when you are down 2-0, and I think, like I said, we want to change the results, especially at home, and it was a really good performance.
“I think we should take something more from this game, but as I said, the reaction was so good, and we are really proud for that.”
