The day opened with Botafogo beating Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 in Bragança Paulista.

Fluminense then edged Atlético-MG 1-0 at the Maracanã.

Palmeiras later saw off São Paulo 1-0 in the state derby.

Four 16:00 Brasília time kick-offs follow on Sunday, Athletico-PR face Coritiba, Cruzeiro host Santos, Remo meet Bahia, and Vasco play Grêmio in Rio de Janeiro.
