Palmeiras thrash Criciúma 6-0 in Brasileirão Under-20 round 16

The 16th round of the Brasileirão U-20 A came to an end on Wednesday night (17). With the results, Palmeiras, who thrashed Criciúma 6-0, and Vasco da Gama, who drew 1-1 with Bahia, have already secured their places in the second stage of the competition. Verdão leads the table with 38 points, while Vasco sits in second place with 35.

There are still six spots left for the quarterfinals. In this first stage, the eight best-placed teams advance to the knockout round, which will begin at the quarterfinal stage and be played over two legs.

Alongside Palmeiras and Vasco, the other teams currently in the top eight are: Botafogo (3rd - 30 points), Red Bull Bragantino (4th - 28 points), Cruzeiro (5th - 28 points), Santos (6th - 28 points), Athletico-PR (7th - 25 points) and Corinthians (8th - 25 points).

Flamengo (9th - 25 points), América-MG (10th - 24 points), Bahia (23), Fluminense (11th - 18 points), São Paulo (12th - 18 points) and Vitória (13th - 17 points) are still in contention for a place in the second stage.

Avaí, Fortaleza, Grêmio, Cuiabá, Juventude and Criciúma no longer have any chance of qualifying and are battling to stay out of the relegation zone. The bottom three teams in the first stage of the Brasileirão U-20 A will play in Série B in 2027.
