Vasco da Gama could face an approach from Palmeiras for right-back Paulo Henrique, dependent on Agustín Giay being sold to Italy, according to TV Espírito de Porco.

Atalanta and Genoa are named as suitors, and the timing of any move is said to divide opinion in Rio.

Last season Paulo Henrique hit a career peak, being a leader in duels won and earning a Brazil call-up in November. That elite spell put him on Abel Ferreira’s radar.

He posted four goals and six assists in 2025, an elite return for a Brazilian full-back. His blend of pace and recovery, with nearly 400 duels won, fits the modern game.

The 2026 start has been flatter. Across four competitive matches he had no goals or assists, and his decision-making dipped, before foot pain ruled him out against Mirassol.

He remains Fernando Diniz’s first choice, partly due to limited faith in Puma Rodríguez, yet pressure is growing from the stands. Palmeiras would be betting on a rebound, while Vasco weigh keeping an out-of-form starter against listening to a favourable offer at peak valuation.
