Enzo Maresca says Cole Palmer remains an injury doubt for the clash with Brentford this weekend.

Palmer pulled out of the game against West Ham in the warm up because of a groin injury.

Blues boss Maresca says he has taken part in partial training, and will train again on Friday to determine whether he can be involved on Saturday.

“Cole took part in the session yesterday for the first time, not the entire session,” Maresca said. “We have one more session this afternoon and we are going to try with him to see if he’s okay, otherwise he will be out tomorrow.

“He is recovering from an injury, it’s not managing him, it’s recovering from an injury. When he is available, we need to manage him because of the amount of games.”

Meanwhile, striker Liam Delap is set to miss “10 to 12 weeks”, Maresca says, having suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham.

The Chelsea boss also admits there are “question marks” over his South American internationals, who have only recently returned to Cobham from international duty.

Estevao, Joao Pedro, Andrey Santos and Moises Caicedo all travelled to South America to link up with their respective nations over the break.

“The three Brazilian players arrived yesterday but didn’t train,” Maresca said.

“Moi arrived last night, I didn’t see him. I will see him today. For all of them it is a question mark for tomorrow.”

Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile have both trained this week, however, having missed the start of the season through injury.

New signing Alejandro Garnacho could also make his Chelsea debut against Brentford.

“He is working well,” he said.

“For sure, he needs to work because he arrived here not 100% fit. He needs to work. He is working well and we will see. Hopefully we can give him minutes.”

Youngster Dario Essugo is out, however, having undergone surgery on a thigh injury.
