Chelsea will lock horns with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night as they hope to secure a good result on the road in the UEFA Champions League. The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw away at Brentford recently, so they would be eager to get back to winning ways against the Munich outfit in midweek.

Enzo Maresca will set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to his starting XI for this game. Cole Palmer, Alejandro Garnacho and Reece James could all play from the start of this contest.

Defence

Robert Sanchez will feature in between the sticks for the Blues after shipping in a couple of goals in his last outing. Wesley Fofana will function alongside Trevoh Chalobah at the centre of the Chelsea backline as they look to keep a good shape on the defensive end of the field.

Reece James will try to put in a good display as the right-back, while Marc Cucurella looks to prove himself on the other side as the left-back. Both of them would have to perform their defensive duties well before trying to offer some support to the front players.

Tosin Adarabioyo will provide cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.

Midfield

Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez will operate as the holding midfielders as they try to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.

The talented trio of Alejandro Garnacho, Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto will play just ahead of them as part of Maresca’s attack. All three of them need to link up with each other well if Chelsea are to come away with a positive result from the Allianz Arena this week.

Jamie Gittens and Andrey Santos will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if required.

Attack

Joao Pedro will lead the charge for the West London club up top. He would be eager to find the back of the net after failing to score last weekend.

Tyrique George will have to settle for a place on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the final quarter of the game if needed.
