Paola García named Colombia league’s best defensive midfielder at Bogotá ceremony | OneFootball

Corinthians new signing Paola García was crowned Colombia’s best defensive midfielder for 2025 at a Bogotá awards ceremony, and was also named in the league’s team of the season.

According to Meu Timao, the Femína Football event in Bogotá honoured the midfielder for her 2025 campaign with Deportivo Cali, and she was included in the team of the tournament.

Preparing for Corinthians’ Brasileiro Feminino opener against Atlético Mineiro, García did not attend, with her mother collecting the prize on her behalf.

García joined Corinthians at the start of 2026 on a deal to the end of 2028. She takes shirt 20, vacated after defender Mariza left for Mexican football.

Last season she made 29 appearances, scoring two goals and providing four assists. She was a key figure in Deportivo Cali’s run to the Libertadores final, where they finished runners-up to Corinthians.

She travelled to the Copa das Campeãs in England but, arriving late due to documentation issues, did not feature in either match. She also missed the Supercopa final last Saturday.
