Matthis Abline (22) is attracting plenty of interest this summer. His form for FC Nantes last season (11 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions) saw him play a prominent role for the France U21s during the recent Euro U21 championship. It has also seen some top sides show an interest.
As per a report from The Telegraph, Wolverhampton Wanderers, who showed an interest in now-Aston Villa striker Evann Guessand earlier in the window, are looking to make a deal to bring Abline to Molineux. However, they are far from the only interested party. Olympique de Marseille and Lille OSC, who will both compete in European competition this season, have also registered an interest.
However, it is a rival Ligue 1 side that has submitted a bid. Paris FC were promoted to Ligue 1 last season and are backed by new – extremely wealthy – investors, the Arnault family. L’Équipe understands that they have lodged a bid for Abline. That bid is worth €25m, however, it has been rejected by Nantes. The club’s president, Waldemar Kita, stated earlier in the summer that they value the former Stade Rennais forward at €50m. Paris FC have made Abline a priority target. It remains to be seen whether they will improve on their opening bid.
