Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, he also opened up on his emotions about returning to the Ennio Tardini.

Cristian Chivu coached Parma in the second half of last season, overseeing 13 games in Serie A.

Despite lacking experience in senior management, he helped the Crusaders avoid the drop.

Therefore, he earned Inter’s call in June to replace Simone Inzaghi, who took charge of Al-Hilal.

Moreover, Chivu has hit the ground running at San Siro, guiding the Nerazzurri to the top of the standings midway through the campaign.

Inter headed into tonight’s game as favorites, knowing they cannot take anything for granted after being held to a 2-2 draw last term.

As for Chivu, this marks an emotional reunion with a club that launched his managerial career in Serie A.

“Inter currently have a clear identity,” Chivu confirmed. “They try to do certain things with intensity and confidence.

“And they won’t change their approach even tonight. The idea of how to carry on this season will remain the same.”

Despite facing familiar faces, Chivu will put his feelings aside tonight.

“Our attitude stays the same,” the 45-year-old added. “It’s a match built on duels, especially when you press and keep the team fairly high up the pitch.

“You have to win those duels with intensity.

“I’m happy with the work we did in those three intense and rewarding months, in a city like Parma and at a club like Parma.

“This club deserves to be in the top flight; living football here is wonderful.”

Chivu’s men are enjoying a five-game winning streak in Serie A following an impressive 3-1 home victory over Bologna on Sunday.
