Wrexham have parted company with striker Paul Mullin after agreeing to settle the final year of his contract, the club said in a statement, leaving him a free agent. He exits with 110 goals in 172 games and three consecutive promotions.
The forward became the face of the club’s Hollywood-era revival. He has not featured since February 2025 but his standing at The Racecourse Ground endures.
In 2022 he lobbed Stockport in the FA Trophy semi-final, then a stoppage-time double took Wrexham to Wembley for the only time under Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds. In 2023 he hit 38 league goals to return the club to the EFL and eight FA Cup strikes earned the Golden Boot.
A sickening pre-season collision against Manchester United left him with a punctured lung and four broken ribs, and an early drought followed. He then hit 14 in the final 13 games as Wrexham rose to League One and he claimed a third straight club player of the year.
After back surgery in summer 2024 he struggled for rhythm, though a Boxing Day volley at Blackpool won goal of the season. With three goals from nine starts and 17 substitute outings, manager Phil Parkinson turned to Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.
Mullin and Ollie Palmer were largely spectators as promotion followed, and he later spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic then Bradford City. Welcome to Wrexham also spotlighted his ‘A’ celebration for son Albi, reflected by a mural on Yorke Street.
