Benfica are set for a significant change in their academy as long-serving coach Pedro Faria departs Seixal after nearly two decades. His exit had already been announced by the club.

A BOLA reports that the 43-year-old is expected to take charge of Torreense’s under-23s, replacing Fábio Vieira in the Liga Revelação. Talks are at an advanced stage and the move could be confirmed soon.

Faria joined Benfica in 2007 and has not coached elsewhere. He led the under-15s to national titles in 2022/23 and 2023/24, then won the under-17 championship in 2024/25. He oversaw the under-17s this past season.

Beyond trophies, his work has accelerated the development of prospects now on the fringes of the first team. Daniel Banjaqui, José Neto, Anísio Cabral and Jaden Umeh are among those to have come through under his guidance.

His departure closes an important chapter for Benfica and offers Faria a new test in a different environment. At Luz, he leaves a clear legacy in shaping several of the club’s most promising talents.
