Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was invited to the Royal Box at Wimbledon on Saturday as a guest of honour alongside other global sports stars.

The Sky Blues’ sixth Premier League title in seven years was Guardiola’s 17th major trophy at the Etihad Stadium, with the Catalan coach having moved to east Manchester in 2016 from Bayern Munich.

The Manchester City manager also became only the second head coach to win the treble last year, guiding the Cityzens to the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Emirates FA Cup.

Guardiola is expected to embark on his ninth campaign at the Etihad later this month, with Manchester City having also lifted both the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup during the recent 2023/24 season.

The Blues will begin their preparations for the 2024/25 campaign with a four-match tour of the United States across late July and early August, prior to starting their latest Premier League title defence against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next month.

The 53-year-old was in the capital this weekend however, with Guardiola a guest of honour in the Royal Box at Wimbledon for Sporting Saturday, where the Manchester City boss was alongside icons from football, cricket, tennis, golf and the Olympics.

The Royal Box has hosted the Royal Family and illustrious guests for the past 102-years, with the Chairman of the All England Club inviting British sporting talent to Centre Court for Super Saturday every year.

Guardiola was alongside former Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson and England Women’s captain Leah Williamson, with England cricket trio Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler also in attendance.

Also in the Royal Box were Olympic stars Jason and Laura Kenny, Chris Hoy, Adam Peaty, Jess Ennis-Hill, Denise Lewis, Kadeena Cox, Hannah Cockroft and Bethany Shriever.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was also a guest of honour, as well as Rugby legend Alun Wyn Jones and Golfer Charley Hull, with 88 guests in the Royal Box according to The Sun.
