Although Omar Marmoush only played the final stages of Manchester City’s frustrating nil-all draw with Southampton on Saturday, there’s an argument to be made that he was City’s most dangerous attacking player. The Egyptian international hit the crossbar and had another goal-bound effort denied while he was on the pitch. Looking ahead, Omar Marmoush should start Saturday’s FA Cup final against Crystal Palace. The movement of the Egyptian international could be a key element in City’s chances of opening up Crystal Palace at Wembley.

Omar Marmoush should start alongside Erling Haaland at Wembley.

For me, it would give Manchester City a bigger threat up front if Omar Marmoush started alongside Erling Haaland at Wembley. Pep Guardiola’s side needs to get more out of their top scorer. Starting Marmoush could help in this front. Especially given that he typically lines up on the left wing and drifts into dangerous pockets of space. The intelligent runs of Marmoush could help Haaland get the space he needs. I also don’t expect Crystal Palace to play in the manner that Southampton did at St. Mary’s. There should be more space for Manchester City to operate in at Wembley. If there is Omar Marmoush could be a key weapon in City’s armoury.

Also, Omar Marmoush does help Manchester City out of possession. His pressing and energy could be key to this at Wembley. He can cover for Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne off the ball if they both start against Crystal Palace. That’s another element that Marmoush provides Pep Guardiola’s team.

The FA Cup final could be the ideal stage for City’s Egyptian international to shine.

Omar Marmoush looks to be a player built for the big stage. He has shown snippets of what he is capable of since arriving at Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt. Marmoush figures to be a big part of Manchester City’s future. If he starts at Wembley, and plays a key role in a City win it could set him up for what lies ahead in his Manchester City career.

For me, Omar Marmoush must start the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace. His threat in the final third could swing the game in Manchester City’s favour. Whether or not he does start, obviously, remains to be seen. But the case for him to do so is compelling and it’s something I’d like to see when the starting lineups are announced on Saturday.
