Pep Guardiola plays down talk over his future amid Enzo Maresca links | OneFootball

Pep Guardiola said his future is not being discussed at Manchester City, after renewed speculation over a possible departure at the end of the season.

The Athletic reported on Thursday that City anticipated a departure at season’s end despite a contract running to 2027, and that the club were considering bringing in former assistant Enzo Maresca, now at Chelsea, next summer.

Maresca dismissed that suggestion on Friday morning, calling it pure speculation, adding he has a deal until 2029 and is focused solely on Chelsea.

Speaking early afternoon, Guardiola said there had been no talks with the hierarchy about his position. He noted he will not be around forever, but reiterated there had been no discussions and that the matter is not on the agenda right now.

He added that whatever is to happen will happen and that the club should be prepared for any scenario, while stressing the topic is not currently being addressed.
