Pepe won't join Jorge Jesus's national team backroom staff

Pepe will not be joining Jorge Jesus’s coaching staff in the national team. Despite being invited to be part of the new era of the team of the quinas, following Roberto Martínez’s departure, the former defender, 43, ultimately turned down the challenge.

Already confirmed on Jorge Jesus’s coaching staff are five of the assistants he worked with at Al Nassr last season and who, in fact, have accompanied him through various stages of his career: João de Deus, as assistant coach; Márcio Sampaio, as fitness coach; and Rodrigo Araújo, Gil Henriques and Fábio Jesus, as analysts, will be part of the new quinas coaching staff and will join the manager in his first experience in charge of a national team.
