Peter Schmeichel and Joe Hart have backed Antonin Kinsky after the Tottenham goalkeeper conceded three early goals and was withdrawn 17 minutes into Tuesday's Champions League last-16 first leg at Atlético Madrid.
According to L'Équipe, the former goalkeepers expressed support for Kinsky and questioned Igor Tudor's call.
Hart, the former England goalkeeper with 75 caps, said he felt heartbroken for Kinsky, referenced a slip and the third goal, and admitted he was lost for words.
Schmeichel, the 1999 Champions League winner with Manchester United, criticised Tudor, arguing the decision could have lasting consequences for Kinsky's career and that the keeper needed backing at least until half-time.
Paul Robinson, who played for Tottenham from 2004 to 2008, said he had never seen such a change on a pitch and described it as damaging to a player's confidence.
