Philadelphia Union and Club América meet in Round of 16 | OneFootball

MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup kicks off with Philadelphia Union hosting Club América in the First Leg of their Round of 16 series on Tuesday at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, USA.

Philadelphia enters the Round of 16 for the fourth time in search of advancing past the stage for the third time. The Union secured its spot in the Round of 16 by overcoming Defence Force FC with a 12-nil aggregate in Roud One.

The Round One series saw Cavan Sullivan make history, as the midfielder collected a brace in the second leg against Defence Force to become the youngest player to score for an MLS club in the Concacaf Champions Cup (since 2008-09), and the youngest player to record a brace in the tournament at just 16 years, 4 months, and 29 days.

Club América, one of the winningest clubs in the history of the Champions Cup with seven titles, arrives at the Round of 16 for the eighth time, having advanced in six of its seven previous appearances.

Las Águilas booked a Round of 16 berth with a 2-1 win on aggregate over CD Olimpia. Víctor Dávila and Brian Rodríguez netted the series-clinching goals for the Liga MX club.

The sides meet again in the Champions Cup after clashing in the semifinals of the 2021 edition. América won the series 4-nil on aggregate on that occasion.
