Cristiano Ronaldo's publicly celebrated the appointment of his longtime friend Jose Semedo as the new CEO of Al Nassr marking significant leadership change at the Saudi club ahead of the 2025 /26 season.
On Thursday Al Nassr confirmed Semedo’s appointment as the new chief executive, replacing Majed Al Jamaan who departed the role weeks earlier. Semedo, 40 is former midfielder who notably played for Portuguese club Vitoria Setubal.
Ronaldo who shares strong bond with Semedo reacted via Instagram reposting the club’s announcement along with the caption: "Proud of you. Let’s go together with everything"
Reports indicate that Ronaldo was instrumental in bringing Semedo on board. The former player initially led the technical committee during the current summer transfer window before earning his promotion to CEO.
All Portuguese Core at Al Nassr
The appointment adds to Al Nassr's Portuguese influence with Ronaldo, Semedo and newly hired manager Jorge Jesus forming trio of key figures at the club. Jesus replaces Italian coach Stefano Pioli at the helm.
Al Nassr's aiming high with its revamped leadership. The club kicks off the 2025 /26 campaign on 19 Aug in the Saudi Super cup, hoping to secure early silverware and launch a successful season.
