Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reached yet another milestone on Friday night, scoring the 400th professional goal of his career during Marseille’s 5–1 demolition of Nice. The Gabonese striker continues to hit the back of the net for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, and was on-hand to score the opener from close range to hit a historic landmark of combined goals for club and country. It comes as the former Arsenal and Chelsea man’s fifth goal of the 2025-2026 season, after re-signing for Les Phocéens in the Summer from Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiah FC. Counting his first goal-haul in the 2023-2024 season, the Gabon forward has now 36 goals in 66 appearances for Marseille.
Les Olympiens have now scored 4+ goals in ten matches in 2025, which the first time they have achieved such a tally in a calendar year since 1991, according to Opta. Speaking in the Allianz Riviera’s mixed zone attended by Get French Football News, Aubameyang admitted there was more than plenty of motivation to see off their Southern rivals on Friday evening. “Before we came, the fans left us a message. When they’re not in the stands, it’s never enjoyable. We’re in the south — we treated this as a derby and came with ambition.”Even on the night he joined football’s exclusive 400-goal club, Aubameyang was highlighting OM’s collective effort against Nice, before facing Newcastle United in the Champions League. “The whole team delivered a huge match. There are so many elements we can use as reference points. The ingredients were all there.”GFFN | George Boxall & Luke Entwistle – Reporting from Nice
