Pierre Sage has been officially appointed Crystal Palace manager on a contract until 2029, the clubs said in statements on Monday.
The 47-year-old leaves Lens after one season, having finished second in Ligue 1 and delivered the club’s first Coupe de France, securing direct Champions League qualification.
He had been keen to join Palace at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, and an agreement was reached for his move alongside assistant Jamal Alioui.
Lens thanked Sage and Alioui for their roles in a historic season and wished them well. He also sent a farewell message to the club’s supporters.
Sage began coaching at senior top level in 2023 with Lyon, and at Palace he will earn a salary well above what he received at Lens.
Under Austrian coach Oliver Glasner, Palace finished 15th in the Premier League last season, won the Europa Conference League and are therefore in the Europa League.
Following the departures of Franck Haise in 2024 and Will Still after one season last year, Lens now face another rebuild.
