Crystal Palace 2 – 1 Liverpool – PL Player Ratings

The Premier League’s return after a successful midweek EFL Cup 3rd round win over Southampton, saw Palace host the reigning and defending champions of England at a sun-bathed Selhurst Park.

The lineup and subsequent ratings are listed below.

Alisson Becker – 9.0

The giant Brazilian stopper was brilliant in denying Pinot after his defence failed to protect him on the early corner and the opening goal was conceded. Further stops from Mateta showed the brilliance of the veteran as he kept his side in the game.

After the restart, the Reds keeper was again able to show his strength, though the winner could not be stopped.

Man of the match

Conor Bradley – 5.0

The Irish fullback was limited in his attacking output as he had to remain guarded against the common counterattack.

Milos Kerkez – 5.0

The Hungarian international was reliable and unspectacular in a reserved first-half showing.

After the intermission, the youthful full-back was unable to add enough power.

Ibrahima Konaté  – 5.0

The French international defender was poor and irresponsible in possession just after the first goal went in, as he nearly let in Sarr to double the early lead.In the second period, the former RB Leipzig man was sacrificed as he struggled for form.

Virgil van Dijk – 6.0

The captain and leader of this team managed to galvanise his side after a difficulty-ridden opening thirty minutes, where his team was lucky to be only 0-1 down.After the intermission, the former Celtic giant was unable to drive his team to a positive result.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 6.0

The Hungarian skipper was lacking in burst and purpose against an organised opposition. When the match resumed, the former RB Leipzig man was moved to right back to allow an extra attacker onto the pitch. Loving back into the middle helped but his form didn’t match that of previous weeks.

Ryan Gravenberch – 6.0

The Dutch midfielder was unlucky with his attempted defensive header, which contributed to the early deficit. The 23-year-old managed to strike the post with a stinging drive after a Mohamed Salah free kick. After the half-time break, the former Ajax prodigy was unable to unlock a regimented opponent.

Alexis Mac Allister – 6.0

The Argentine international was largely ineffective in a frustrating half of almost no creativity. After the break, the £35m signing was taken off as his struggles for form continue.

Florian Wirtz – 5.0

The German creator was neat and tidy as his team lacked cohesion against a well-drilled team.

In the second half, the wide man was unable to score when the opportunity presented itself.

The Sweden attacker was lacking in real support as a new look attack looked out of rhythm.

After the break, the former Newcastle attacker was clearly lacking in match sharpness.

The Egyptian King was unable to make a positive impact apart from a free kick which allowed Gravenberch to strike the post.

In the second 45 minutes, the record-breaking attacker was able to assist the equaliser but his form remains ordinary.

Came on to add energy and played a role in the equaliser, however, much else was limited.
