Shea Charles struck on 85 minutes to floor Arsenal and send Southampton to Wembley, 50 years after their sole FA Cup triumph.
Arsenal had most of the ball despite missing key players. As reported by Sainstmarching.com, a raucous St Mary's evoked the spirit of '76.
Ross Stewart scored before half-time, chesting down a swirling ball and drilling low. Arsenal levelled after the break, Fellows then set up Charles on 85 minutes.
Daniel Peretz was immense. Full-backs shackled Gabriel Martinelli and Max Dowman, while Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Nathan Wood handled Gabriel Jesus. Caspar Jander impressed and will probably return to Germany unless promotion changes that.
Cameron Bragg came of age, tracking Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and later Martin Zubimendi. Finn Azaz created chances, threaded three passes into the final third and made the most recoveries of any outfield player.
Léo Scienza dived early seeking a penalty, then ran through and, after the break, rattled the bar after twisting Ben White, before going off on 70 minutes to be fresh for Wrexham on Tuesday. On the right, Tom Fellows edged Myles Lewis-Skelly and should have scored.
After the equaliser Charles injected energy, Sam Edozie stiffened the left and Cyle Larin offered an outlet. Joshua Quarshie arrived late to see it out.
Ratings: Peretz 9, Bree 8, Manning 8, Harwood-Bellis 7, Wood 8, Jander 8, Bragg 7, Azaz 7, Scienza 8, Fellows 8, Stewart 8, Larin 8, Charles 9, Edozie 7, Quarshie N/A, head coach Tonda Eckert 10.
